The Earth stood still but did anyone listen?
The reference, of course, was a 2008 Keanu Reeves movie, “The Day the Earth Stood Still”, loosely based on a 1951 black and white flick of the same name and a 1940 short story “Farewell to the Master” by Harry Bates.
We’re making a muck of the place, so save the Earth by removing the humans and all trace of what we’ve done. It’s an arguable point and was a successful movie.
I’m grasping at straws here. There are bigger things going on here than the mental health of the President of the United States or the White House in turmoil. Like the planet we live on.
Like the environment, or Pluto, or the expanding universe; like dark matter and dark energy, our sun, evolution versus creationism, or nuclear war.
Or did the Russians hack the election or would it really have mattered because the people who were going to vote decided long ago who they wanted. Oh that’s politics and I want to rise above.
For the record I think the Russians hacked the DNC but it didn’t change the outcome. That’s why I ask did anyone listen? Apparently the alt-right didn’t. There’s no global warming, humans can’t influence the climate, and the President they elected isn’t mentally ill.
We need to save the Earth. That’s the day everything stood still. With these guys in charge I’m not sure we’re going in the right direction.
