Since technology has improved so much, why hasn’t a lunar mission, from any country, taken place?

Why haven’t we gone back to the moon?

If I were in charge, I’d ask why do you want to go to the moon? It’s of no value. We’ve done that and put footprints there. Other than that, what reason would we have to go back?
