Previously, I asked “What is a species? What is a breed?”
It lead to an interesting question. Are people of different color and origin different breeds or species or what?
Now I will quote , who has 15 years of research in animal behavior, with his discussion on Quora on this topic:
Breed: Animals that have come to resemble one another and pass those traits uniformly to their offspring through selection and breeding, through selection and breeding.
Species: Organisms are considered to belong to the same species if they can potentially reproduce with each other and have offspring that are healthy and fertile. Otherwise, they are considered to belong to different species.
For example, German Shepherd and Rottweiler are different breeds, but the same species – dogs.
You can understand it through this that Species comes first under which there are different breeds with more or less same traits.
This does not answer the subject comprehensively, unfortunately, but does shed light on the subject, as we explore further.
Are we humans – homo-sapiens – a different breed or species from each other depending on ethnicity?
